Launching an online school is primarily a team effort. The team can be large and consist of different experts: marketers, sales managers, teachers, designers, and others. But there are key roles, without which nothing will work. There are only two of them: the expert and the producer.

Expert
An expert is a bearer of valuable knowledge, for which the client is willing to pay. For example, a good psychologist, marketer or tutor can sell their knowledge to a certain audience. The main tasks of an expert include:

  • developing content for the training part
  • conducting webinars and consultations
  • check homework
  • giving feedback to students

If you are an expert, you need to find a good producer to help promote the courses and the school starts generating income. You can have the best online course in the world, but if you don’t know how to promote and sell it, you won’t make anything.

Producer
A producer is a promotional and sales professional. His core competencies include:

  • packaging and presentation of the product
  • development of the branding and promotional materials
  • making sales and accepting payments
  • Searching for clients for webinars and courses
  • Developing scaling plans

If you’re a producer, you need to find an expert whose expertise can be turned into a valuable product for your target audience.

Expert and producer in one person
There are situations where one person successfully combines the roles of expert and producer. For example, the producer makes a marketing or sales course and promotes it independently. In other cases, as a rule, the expert and the producer are different people. At the initial stage, you can combine both roles, but as the online school develops, you will have to separate responsibilities in any case.
